| Working Principle |
This rotary lathe employs the classic spindle-driven method. The log is fed to the machine center by an automatic loading system and firmly clamped by the hydraulic tailstock and the main spindle. The high-speed rotating spindle drives the log to rotate at a constant speed. Simultaneously, based on the preset veneer thickness, a precise CNC system controls the tool carriage (equipped with the peeling knife) to perform an accurate and smooth continuous feed motion along the log's radial direction. The sharp edge of the peeling knife contacts the rotating log surface, peeling the wood into a continuous ribbon of veneer with uniform thickness. The veneer ribbon is then conveyed to subsequent clipping or winding processes.
| Main Components of the Rotary Lathe |
1. Core Drive & Frame System
High-Rigidity Cast Iron Bed: The foundational frame ensuring overall stability and vibration damping.
Main Motor & Gearbox: The core providing peeling power, typically a high-power AC motor coupled with a gear reducer.
Headstock & Spindle: The main shaft with high-precision bearings, used to clamp and rotate the log.
Hydraulic Tailstock: Works with the main spindle to clamp the log from the other end, ensuring a secure grip.
2. Cutting & Feeding System
Tool Carriage Assembly: The component that holds the peeling knife, the core moving unit of the machine.
Peeling Knife (with Pressure Bar): A long strip tool made of special alloy steel, determining veneer cutting quality.
Precision Ball Screw & Linear Guides: The motion components that drive the precise radial feed of the tool carriage.
Servo Motor / AC Servo Drive: Controls the feed speed and position of the tool carriage to achieve thickness control.
3. Control & Detection System
Industrial Computer (CNC/PLC): The brain of the machine, executing all logic and motion control.
Human-Machine Interface (HMI Touch Screen): The main interface for operators to set parameters and monitor status.
Position & Thickness Sensors: Detect the tool carriage position and veneer thickness in real-time for closed-loop control.
4. Auxiliary & Peripheral Systems
Automatic Loading & Centering Device (Optional): Feeds the log to the machine center and performs preliminary centering.
Veneer Conveyor Belt or Winding Roll: Extracts the continuous veneer ribbon in an orderly manner.
Hydraulic System: Provides power for actions like spindle clamping and tailstock movement.
Lubrication System: Automatically supplies lubricant to key points like guides, screws, and bearings.
Fully Enclosed Guard & Safety Devices: Protects operators and contains wood chip splatter.

Q1: What wood species is this high-stability rotary lathe mainly suitable for?
A1: This machine is particularly suitable for wood species requiring high peeling precision and veneer surface quality, such as poplar, eucalyptus, basswood, birch, okoume, and other common species used for plywood and furniture veneer. Its high-rigidity design also performs well with relatively hard woods.
Q2: How is the "high stability" of the equipment specifically reflected?
A2: It is mainly reflected in: 1) High-strength cast iron bed and spindle system, ensuring vibration-free high-speed operation; 2) Precise servo drive and guideway system, guaranteeing extremely smooth tool carriage feed; 3) Advanced CNC system automatically compensates for parameter fluctuations, ensuring consistent and uniform veneer thickness.
Q3: What are the advantages of this equipment compared to spindle-less rotary lathes?
A3: For furniture veneer and high-quality plywood production, the advantages of this machine are: 1) The peeled veneer surface is smoother with smaller backside checks (splits); 2) Higher thickness control accuracy with smaller tolerances; 3) Lower initial requirement for log roundness, more stable peeling process, especially suitable for peeling larger diameter logs or those with high-quality requirements.
Q4: Is the equipment easy to operate and maintain?
A4: Yes. The machine is equipped with a graphical Chinese/English touch-screen interface for intuitive parameter setting. The high level of automation reduces labor intensity. We provide detailed training.
Q5: How can I get technical support if a breakdown occurs?
A5: You can contact us immediately via our 24-hour service hotline or online support platform. Most issues can be resolved through remote guidance.
