Production Line Process

1.  Log Handling: Cross-cutting, Debarking.

2.  Veneer Preparation: Peeling logs into continuous veneer ribbons using a veneer lathe/peeler.

3.  Veneer Drying: Removing excess moisture from veneers using a roller or mesh belt dryer.

4.  Veneer Processing: Clipping, Splicing (core composer), Patching.

5.  Gluing & Lay-up: An automatic glue spreader applies adhesive evenly onto veneers. The veneers are then laid up crosswise (with grain directions perpendicular) either automatically or manually to form a mat.

6.  Pre-pressing & Hot Pressing: The mat is first pre-compressed in a cold press, then cured under high temperature and pressure in a multi-opening hot press.

7.  Post-processing: The pressed rough board undergoes cooling, edge trimming (cross-cut and rip saws), and sanding (calibrating sander) to achieve precise dimensions and a smooth surface.

8.  Inspection & Packing: Quality grading, bundling, and warehousing.

A standard line typically includes, but is not limited to, the following core equipment: Log cross-cut saw, Debarker, Veneer lathe/peeler, Veneer conveyor, Veneer dryer, Veneer clipper, Automatic/Semi-automatic patcher, Core composer, Glue spreader (roller/curtain coater), Lay-up line, Cold press, Multi-opening hot press (with automatic loading/unloading system), Board cooling line, Panel sizing saw (cross-cut & rip saw), Calibrating sander, Dust collection system, Electrical control system (PLC), Hydraulic system, etc. The exact configuration is adjustable based on investment budget and automation requirements.

Raw Materials Required for Furniture Substrate Production

   Wood: Logs or pre-processed veneer. Common species include fast-growing plantation woods like Poplar, Eucalyptus, Pine, Beech, Okoume, or mixed hardwoods.

   Adhesive: Different adhesives are used based on environmental grade requirements, such as Urea-Formaldehyde (UF), Phenol-Formaldehyde (PF), Melamine-Urea-Formaldehyde (MUF), or higher eco-grade options like soy-based glue, MDI glue (no-added formaldehyde).

   Auxiliary Materials: Release agent (for hot press plates to prevent sticking), patching materials (for veneer repair).
