The main research conclusions of the paper are as follows: (1) The impact of tree species and thickness on the drying quality of eucalyptus veneer. After veneer drying, the difference of final moisture content of veneer is smaller than the difference of initial moisture content. The moisture content uniformity of five eucalyptus veneers with a thickness of 2.3mm is ranked as follows: Eucalyptus grandis>Eucalyptus pellucida>Eucalyptus urophylla>Eucalyptus salicifolia>Eucalyptus grandis; In terms of drying defects, the number of cracking increases of six kinds of eucalyptus veneer with a thickness of 2.3mm is basically the same, within the range of 6-9 pieces/piece of veneer, but there is no obvious rule for the corresponding cracking extension and warping changes Influence of veneer thickness: after equipment drying, the moisture content uniformity of three typical veneer thicknesses of Eucalyptus urophylla is in the order of 2.0mm>2.3mm>1.7mm; In terms of drying defects, the number of cracking increases of three different thicknesses of veneer of Eucalyptus urophylla was significantly different. The number of cracking increases of 1.7mm veneer was the largest, 2.3 times that of 2.0mm and 2.3mm veneer.
The veneers move through the drying machine in several layers along rollers, as the machine's name indicates. The target moisture level after drying is around 6-7% which is precisely the right moisture level for gluing veneer.
A sufficient drying temperature is 145-160ºC and the veneers pass through the machine in about six minutes. Drying conditions and the moisture of the veneers are monitored continuously to make sure that the drying quality remains even.
Usually, the original moisture is 70-80%, after drying, the moisture is about 10%.
